Cyanoacrylate Sensitivity

Some cyanoacrylate (CA) glue formulas can cause severe allergic reactions in some people. The fumes produced during curing are the primary irritant. Symptoms can include respiratory irritation, watery eyes, skin rashes, and in severe cases, difficulty breathing.

If you suspect you are sensitive to CA fumes, always work in well-ventilated areas, use minimal amounts of accelerator (kicker), and consider wearing a respirator mask. Some people find that odorless or foam-safe CA formulations cause fewer problems.

Alternative adhesives that don't produce irritating fumes include epoxy, aliphatic resin (yellow wood glue), and hot melt glue. See the Adhesives Guide for more options.
